Christmas Update

Christmas Update

Well the year of Covid is about over, thank god, as we hunker down in St. Augustine Florida. We were out west in Arizona when Covid hit the US. We went to my Mom’s in April to help rebuild her bathroom to make it more accessible as we decided on future plans. As lockdowns spread and our planned visits were cancelled we headed east to Maine to be near Cathy’s family as we saw summer turn to fall and the…

An overdue update…

An overdue update…

Well I am super late on a blog update, and I am just going to blame it on Covid. Covid has upended everything and everyone so it must be why I have been dink on my blog update. Fricken Covid… We spent mid July through late September at Cathy’s brothers house in Maine. While there ( after ME’s 14 day quarantine that is) we got in some fun riding jet skis and just visiting family… We also got caught up…

Cross country road trip

Cross country road trip

So after visiting family and getting projects completed we decided to head East and stay near Cathy’s family in the Northeast. We are going to stay in North Berwick Maine at her brother Kevin’s house. We have electricity, water and can dump our waste tank as needed. Perfect way to spend the summer. Now all we needed to do was drive the RV about 3500 miles to his house. We planned to stop and see my Navy buddy Bryan in…

Lake Oroville family time

So with my eldest brother in tow we headed to my other older brother David’s lake house at Lake Oroville, CA just an hour northeast of Sacramento. We got to go on the lake in his pontoon boat and take in the 2nd largest lake in California. We also looked at the rebuilt spillway from the last time we visited… The deer love to visit the backyard.. We also took a nice hike near their house in the morning before…

Brother’s Construction

Brother’s Construction

So after working on Mom’s bathroom, my great Niece was closing on her first house and wanted to get the floors redone before they moved in. She asked me to look at the quote and after going over it I thought I could save her money on the labor. My oldest brother Dean offered to help out and was interested in learning how to install a Luxury Vinyl floor as he may want to do that in his Condo. Lucky…

On lockdown with family

On lockdown with family

We headed to Joshua Tree, California on 15 April to check in with family. A close friend has a RV spot at his house that is close to my mom’s, with both 50A electrical and water. The plan was to tear out my mom’s cramped bathroom and make it more open. Mom is 92 and we needed to make the bathroom more senior friendly. Here is what it looked like… Basically the corner shower was the problem, hard to get…

RV life with A Pandemic

RV life with A Pandemic

What a month of March, it started out just fine, we were enjoying our stay in Benson, AZ. By the middle of the month the stark reality of this Wuhan/Covid 19 virus started to hit. All of a sudden the two grocery stores, Safeway and Walmart were out of most paper products, and certain other food stuff were flying off the shelf. I mean WTF people???? Benson is a small town, it has like 4 stop lights, just a few…

Hunkered down in Benson, Arizona

So long before the spread of the Wuhan Virus ( I refuse to play the game and call it the Covid19) we had planned to stay a month in Benson Arizona. It is about 40 minutes outside of Tucon. We are staying at Butterfield RV Resort which is really nice and about 1/2 the cost of a similar part in Florida. The monthly rate is around $500. While here I am helping out Derek on his house build nearby. I…

On the Road Again

On the Road Again

Well our stay in Jacksonville has come to a close. Cathy stopped working and we loaded up the RV and headed out. Out first stop was Atlanta, for a quick one night stay. We did get to see both Amy and her daughter Micheala, old neighbors from Virginia. We have known them for over a decade and watched the kids grow up into young adults. Michaela is an ER Nurse and Amy took a temp ER Nurse Job at the…

Fixing the most annoying thing…

Fixing the most annoying thing…

We have lived in our RV for over three years. And now I am going to tackle the most annoying thing in the RV? Can you guess what it is? It is a design decision made throughout the industry and you find it in the low end and higher end RV’s. This “annoyance” requires frequent maintenance, is hard to clean and needs to be replaced periodically. You go to great lengths to try and protect it, but in the end,…
