British Columbia, Canada mini tour
We took the Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC. It was a tight fit, since the ferry is smaller than the BC Ferries that run from Vancouver to Victoria, but we made a reservation to ensure we got a spot on the ship.
We arrived in Victoria and stayed at Fort Victoria RV Park a few miles outside of town. We were able to use bicycle trails to ride into town, about a 4 mile trek which was really nice. We also took a nice walk around the local parks. It is a lovely city and a must see if every to get out this way. We have been here several times, but this is the first time with a RV.
The real reason for the trip was to see my sister who lives just north of Victoria in Duncan, BC. Besides being my older sister, I was born on her 10th birthday, so that is a special bond we have and she really is a sister…as in a Catholic Nun in a monastery in Duncan, the Poor Clare’s. We had a great visit, and they just loved seeing the Dogs. She showed me some of the local sights, including an old logging trestle and the local BC Forest Museum, that had plenty of local artifacts including some great logging locomotives…
We traveled north to Nanaimo, BC staying at a great RV Park called Living Forest RV, it had like 300 sites, but was really nestled into the trees along the bay, had full hookups and was really quiet with all the trees. A really nice stay for a few days until we caught the BC Ferry from Duke Point to Tsawwassen, which is south of Vancouver. The BC Ferry was much larger and easier to load. If you want to make it easy going to the island, BC Ferry is the way to go from the Vancouver area.
Back across the border and back to the USA. Plan to return and spend more than a few weeks touring around BC, maybe spend the entire summer in the area, with the exchange rate, it is pretty cheap, except the gas prices, so fill up beforehand…

Ooooh interesting! We are looking at taking the ferry from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick at the end of the summer. We’ll see how it all works out, but I am happy to hear you were able to make it work. It does seem pretty packed in those boats, but I guess people do it all the time. The biggest thing we’re not crazy about is having to leave the dog in the RV while we are upstairs. That’s not ideal, but I don’t think we have many options. Anyway, looks like a fun trip and a beautiful location, and we too have been enjoying the favorable exchange rate!
Thanks for sharing! We’ve never taken our RV on a ferry before. It looks interesting and your photos of your trip are beautiful!
