After a fun filled visit with family in Jacksonville, we headed west to Pensacola Beach. There is a nearby National Park, called Gulf Shores National Seashore, which has a great Campground right on the Ocean on a narrow barrier island. Talk about quiet and remote, from the entrance station it was about 8 miles to the campground. For the bargain price of $29 a night you get a site with 50 amp electricity and water with a nearby dump station. …
We have officially reached one year on the Road in our RV. It is amazing how fast it as gone. In a year we traveled out to the west coast, spent about 1/2 the year going from Southern California up into Washington, then put the RV on the Ferry to Victoria, British Columbia. Well, past due for an update. We have spent the last month in Harrisonburg, VA, visiting a close Navy friend who has a farm a little south of Harrisonburg and spending time with our daughter and her husband who recently bought a house in downtown Harrisonburg. We have spent the time visiting, working on my home improvement skills and all around having fun with family and friends. That is the one thing that has really hit me over the past…
So I had a nice visit with my Mom and Sister, we celebrated Mom’s 89th birthday with family, including our kids Jonathan and Erin along with Erin’s husband Alex, Alex and Erin also celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary so it was a great time in Joshua Tree. So why I was off staying with my Family, Cathy flew to NH to help out her sister Tina afgter surgery for a few weeks and spend time her her dad, Ed….
One of things you have to be flexible on is your plans, things are going to happen around you with family and friends that you want to try and help out. Since we are retired, it is a little easier to say, let’s go here and see what we can do to help out when things happen. This year we have mostly stuck to our main plans with some minor tweaks as we traveled up the west coast into Canada….
So our two West Highland Terrier’s (called “Westies”) are a integral part of our travels and I decided to include some of the photo’s showing what they have been doing on our travels. Wer finally made it to Crater lake, as must visit place on our Bucket list. Although we had some haze from nearby forest fires, it still was breathtaking. We got a great site to fit the RV into, but one thing we did find out that since we are in an volcanic area, it was pretty dusty from the ash that fell 7000 years ago when crater lake was formed.
