Lazy L& L Campground

Lazy L& L Campground

So it has been awhile since I last posted.  After traveling through an unexpected ice storm, which I do not recommended ever doing again in a 40,000 lb RV, the overpasses were especially dicy, we were going like 25 mph on the interstate.  We were about 1/2 way here and although they were putting sand down, it was slow going and way too much white knuckle driving, so next time I will do a better job checking the weather and…

Our White Christmas

Our White Christmas

After a fun filled visit with family in Jacksonville, we headed west to Pensacola Beach.  There is a nearby National Park, called Gulf Shores National Seashore, which has a great Campground right on the Ocean on a narrow barrier island.  Talk about quiet and remote, from the entrance station it was about 8 miles to the campground.  For the bargain price of $29 a night you get a  site with 50 amp electricity and water with a nearby dump station. …

Harrisonburg, VA, Part 2

Ok, on to part two.  We did make a quick speed run to Chesapeake, VA to catch up with some of our Pittsburgh friends, Tom and Diane.  Their Daughter, Kristen lives in Chesapeake and we got to see her and Mike on our way south about a year ago.  They recently had a baby girl Ella, and since here parents were visiting, it was a perfect time to drop in for a night. Well, past due for an update.  We have spent the last month in Harrisonburg, VA, visiting a close Navy friend who has a farm a little south of Harrisonburg and spending time with our daughter and her husband who recently bought a house in downtown Harrisonburg.  We have spent the time visiting, working on my home improvement skills and all around having fun with family and friends.  That is the one thing that has really hit me over the past…

Crater Lake, OR

Crater Lake, OR

Wer finally made it to Crater lake, as must visit place on our Bucket list.  Although we had some haze from nearby forest fires, it still was breathtaking.  We got a great site to fit the RV into, but one thing we did find out that since we are in an volcanic area, it was pretty dusty from the ash that fell 7000 years ago when crater lake was formed. We did a drive up to the Crater lake Lodge…
