Newport Oregon

Newport Oregon

After our RV repair we headed a little north to the Newport, Oregon area.  Our first night was at a nice State Beach, South Beach State Park.  Nice place with a nice beach nearby.  It was a busy place and was filling up due to the upcoming 4th of July weekend. I messed up when I was moving reservations due to our breakdown and mistakenly cancelled our stay at South Beach so we needed to find another place to stay…

HUMBUG State Park and RV Breakdown

HUMBUG State Park and RV Breakdown

Sometimes in the midst of all the beauty, you get thrown for a loop in your plans.  We enjoyed 5 nights at Humbug Mountain State park just south of Port Orford, OR.  The park had nice sites with real grass all around, a path to a private like, secluded beach with a river flowing into the ocean.  What a nice place, Port Orford is very small but had a few places to eat and a nice overlook of the Ocean….

Tiffin Plant Tour

Tiffin Plant Tour

While waiting for service, I got a chance to take the Tiffin Manufacturing plant tour where the Motorhomes are produced.  Tiffin has been building RV’s since the early 1970’s, they were a building supply company and got into the RV manufacturing after some of the companies they supplied exited the business.  Here is a picture of an early model, a gas powered 1976 Allegro.   They have come a long way over the 40 plus years.  The factory tour is…

Coach Automation 101

Coach Automation 101

So most of the coach controls for lighting, vent fans, shades and such are controlled by several touch panels that are around the RV.  Each panel is set to control those things nearby, so the shades control is in the main salon panel.  But what if your sitting down and don’t want to get up to change something? Two Tiffin owners got together and created a simple computer to plug into the control system used on the RV to allow…

Water Problem, no longer a problem

Water Problem, no longer a problem

Quick update is the Service Facility was able to find a 180 degree twist in the hoses, somewhere under the bed.  Tiffin was great in getting me piping diagrams to send to the service facility and Tuesday I got the call the Rig was fixed, a total of 6 hours was needed to find the twist @$110/hour…Tiffin will be covering the cost so not a big deal, but next time I might just figure it out and save myself the…

Water Problem…Warranty Coverage

Water Problem…Warranty Coverage

One issue that surfaced soon after we got the RV was the washer only worked once, the second time we tried it, we got a H2O error on the washer. Now with my ability to operate nuclear power plants, this seems like an easy problem to diagnose.  Tested all different combinations on washer, both hot and cold water, no luck.  So is it the washer or the supply, simple test is to remove the hoses from the back of the…

Going Backwards, the Chassis

Going Backwards, the Chassis

So we went to the big RV show in January in Tampa. Florida to make our final RV choices and settle on color’s.  While we were there, we got to see what the Tiffin Power Glide chassis looks like before the build the motorhome around it: The picture shows the large Air Bag inboard of the tire that will make for a nice ride and easy way to level the coach, also shows the independent front suspension system. 150 gallon…
