Crater Lake, OR

Crater Lake, OR

Wer finally made it to Crater lake, as must visit place on our Bucket list.  Although we had some haze from nearby forest fires, it still was breathtaking.  We got a great site to fit the RV into, but one thing we did find out that since we are in an volcanic area, it was pretty dusty from the ash that fell 7000 years ago when crater lake was formed. We did a drive up to the Crater lake Lodge…

Everett, WA and the Deschutes River, OR

Everett, WA and the Deschutes River, OR

When I was working on our west coast trip planning over a year ago, I knew one of the spots I wanted to see was Crater Lake.  I made reservations to stay at the National Park Campground a year in advance to ensure I got a spot since they only had a limited number to handle our 38ft RV.  I built the rest of the trip mostly around this particular stop.  So we left British Columbia and traveled through the…

British Columbia, Canada mini tour

British Columbia, Canada mini tour

We took the Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC.  It was a tight fit, since the ferry is smaller than the BC Ferries that run from Vancouver to Victoria, but we made a reservation to ensure we got a spot on the ship. We arrived in Victoria and stayed at Fort Victoria RV Park a few miles outside of town.  We were able to use bicycle trails to ride into town, about a 4 mile trek…

Port Angeles and Olympic National Park

Port Angeles and Olympic National Park

Our final stop in Washington on this leg was at Elwha Dam RV park, a great wonderful, family run RV park outside of Port Angeles, WA.  We lkucked out and got to see a car show when we went into town, and then took a trip into Olympic National Park.  We also stocked up on food and fuel and headed to the Black Ball Ferry to take it over to Victoria, British Columbia.  Olympic National Park is not as developed…

Newport Oregon

Newport Oregon

After our RV repair we headed a little north to the Newport, Oregon area.  Our first night was at a nice State Beach, South Beach State Park.  Nice place with a nice beach nearby.  It was a busy place and was filling up due to the upcoming 4th of July weekend. I messed up when I was moving reservations due to our breakdown and mistakenly cancelled our stay at South Beach so we needed to find another place to stay…

Crescent City and the Down Side of RV Life

We have be on the road for 7 Months, and most of all of our experiences have been positive, but as the world turns, we were bound to hit a rough spot at some point.  Well, we finally hit one in Crescent City.  When I was picking sites to stay, I would look at locations, check out reviews and cost as we have a budget to follow.  I picked Bayview RV in Crescent City since it was within the budget…

Here are some of the pictures of a wonderful day. We then headed 200 miles North to Eureka, California for a few day stop…

Driveway Lake Oroville

Driveway Lake Oroville

After my brothers place in Concord, we traveled north to his getaway at Lake Oroville, California.  He has vacation home with another amazing, flat driveway with enough space for me to squeeze my RV into it, hook up to both electrical, water and with a long extension, the sewer.  Nice to be with family with a great spot near the lake with all the comforts of home.  It just does not get better than this.  We are going to spend…

SF part 2 and Nappa Valley

So we did do another trip into San Francisco to wander around, and I got the chance to meet up with a high school buddy who I have not seen in 40 years who was in the city the same weekend I was visiting.  Through Facebook we hooked up and had a great lunch with a promise to get together on our southern return trip later this year.  We also took a day to drive to Napa Valley to see…
