Thanksgiving in Florida

Thanksgiving in Florida

Weare back in the St. Augustine area to visit my brother Kevin and his wife Cindy and their kids Ryan and Katrina for Thanksgiving and into the middle of December.  This is similar to what we did last year and had such a good time we decided a repeat was in order.  last time we were only here for about two weeks which was not enough time, so this year I made the stop about four weeks.  We were also…

Harrisonburg, VA, Part 2

Harrisonburg, VA, Part 2

Ok, on to part two.  We did make a quick speed run to Chesapeake, VA to catch up with some of our Pittsburgh friends, Tom and Diane.  Their Daughter, Kristen lives in Chesapeake and we got to see her and Mike on our way south about a year ago.  They recently had a baby girl Ella, and since here parents were visiting, it was a perfect time to drop in for a night. Did not get to many pictures, we…

SF part 2 and Nappa Valley

SF part 2 and Nappa Valley

So we did do another trip into San Francisco to wander around, and I got the chance to meet up with a high school buddy who I have not seen in 40 years who was in the city the same weekend I was visiting.  Through Facebook we hooked up and had a great lunch with a promise to get together on our southern return trip later this year.  We also took a day to drive to Napa Valley to see…

San Francisco Part 1

San Francisco Part 1

Our next stop was my older brother’s place in Concord, California.  He has had RV’s in the past and has a driveway leading to a cement pad that goes into his backyard where he used to park his RV.  Our RV wouldn’t fit all the way in the backyard, but 1/2 in and out worked out great, a tight fit, but we have electrical, water and a sewer hook ups.  You cannot beat the free location and being with family makes…

Monterey Coast

Monterey Coast

We took a trip up the Monterey coast to Pebble Beach  and a little further south, what a picturesque drive, just wonderful scenery.  When you hit Pebble Beach they charge you $10 to drive through it, it is refundable if you purchase food or merchandise while in PB.  Most of the coastal scenery is as nice without needing to go through PB. We also went  to Moss Landing to one of the best seafood places we have eaten at called…

Vandenberg & San Luis Obispo

Vandenberg & San Luis Obispo

We spent a few days at Vandenberg Air Force Base, the Space Launch facility on the west coast.  The base was huge and sat right outside the small town of a Lompoc, CA.  We did some touring of the rocket launch facilities and bike riding around this very spread out base.  We spent a afternoon at the private beach on the base, which due to it’s secure location was very quiet.   We then moved north to San Luis Obispo,…

The land of mickey mouse

The land of mickey mouse

I grew up in Riverside, California, about an hour east of Disneyland.  I remember going each year at nigh when different companies would rent the park out in the evenings.  My parents would cut us kids loose, we would meet up on the castle bridge to check in and then meet up at the end of the night.  This was the time of ticket books and trading several B,C tickets to get that extra E ticket.  After I going the…

life at the beach

life at the beach

After San Diego, we headed a little north of Oceanside, CA to Del MAr Beach on Camp Pendleton, which has RV sites with full hook up right on the beach for around $40 a night.  We set up in the second row for some beach time. We did some sightseeing in Oceanside, walked out on the public pier, walked a little around. We also watch the maries playing in the bay and ocean with their Amphibious Craft.  One night they…

San Diego

San Diego

We are finishing up our week in San Diego.  We stayed at Admiral baker RV park, right near Qualcomm Stadium, just a few miles from downtown and close to everything.  We were able to cross off quite a few items on our want to do list.  First we went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido.  The animals are in a more open setting mixed together on a savannah with some separate exhibits for those that do not…

Catalina State Park and Family Visit

Catalina State Park and Family Visit

Due to some reviews from fellow bloggers, I was excited to get reservations to Catalina State Park on the North side of Tucson Az.  Eric and Tina run a fish hatchery in South Dakota for 8 months of the year and then run south to Az to do some hiking and biking in the winter months.   They have a nice you tube channel called “GoneNoMad” and due to their recommendations, I decided to try a few Arizona State Parks….
