Our Start to 2018 in Red Bay

Our Start to 2018 in Red Bay

Our start to 2018 included a trip to the home of Tiffin Motor Homes, in Red Bay, Alabama.  We needed to get some body work done on the front end of the RV due to a little mishap.  There are several local businesses run by former employee’s of Tiffin to do work outside of the very busy service center.  I chose McKinney Motor Home Repair (256-356-8634) which is right behind the main manufacturing plant.  It is run by Daniel McKinney…

Our White Christmas

Our White Christmas

After a fun filled visit with family in Jacksonville, we headed west to Pensacola Beach.  There is a nearby National Park, called Gulf Shores National Seashore, which has a great Campground right on the Ocean on a narrow barrier island.  Talk about quiet and remote, from the entrance station it was about 8 miles to the campground.  For the bargain price of $29 a night you get a  site with 50 amp electricity and water with a nearby dump station. …

One Year on the Road

One Year on the Road

We have officially reached one year on the Road in our RV.  It is amazing how fast it as gone.  In a year we traveled out to the west coast, spent about 1/2 the year going from Southern California up into Washington, then put the RV on the Ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.  We turned around and headed south back to Southern California.  We jumped across the US to get to the Tiffin Factory in Red Bay, Alabama to get…

Change in plans

Change in plans

One of things you have to be flexible on is your plans, things are going to happen around you with family and friends that you want to try and help out.  Since we are retired, it is a little easier to say, let’s go here and see what we can do to help out when things happen.  This year we have mostly stuck to our main plans with some minor tweaks as we traveled up the west coast into Canada….

It’s Not Just The Destination…

It’s Not Just The Destination…

Although we post a lot about where we went, sometimes the Journey between Destinations is also part of the RV lifestyle we have chosen.  We just made the trip from Crater Lake in Oregon down south to Lake Oroville in California.  Along the way we were treated to some spectacular sights along the way.  Sometimes these sights are as nice as the destination we were either coming from or where we were going to, so I thought I would share…

Crater Lake, OR

Crater Lake, OR

Wer finally made it to Crater lake, as must visit place on our Bucket list.  Although we had some haze from nearby forest fires, it still was breathtaking.  We got a great site to fit the RV into, but one thing we did find out that since we are in an volcanic area, it was pretty dusty from the ash that fell 7000 years ago when crater lake was formed. We did a drive up to the Crater lake Lodge…

British Columbia, Canada mini tour

British Columbia, Canada mini tour

We took the Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC.  It was a tight fit, since the ferry is smaller than the BC Ferries that run from Vancouver to Victoria, but we made a reservation to ensure we got a spot on the ship. We arrived in Victoria and stayed at Fort Victoria RV Park a few miles outside of town.  We were able to use bicycle trails to ride into town, about a 4 mile trek…
