Newport Oregon

Newport Oregon

After our RV repair we headed a little north to the Newport, Oregon area.  Our first night was at a nice State Beach, South Beach State Park.  Nice place with a nice beach nearby.  It was a busy place and was filling up due to the upcoming 4th of July weekend. I messed up when I was moving reservations due to our breakdown and mistakenly cancelled our stay at South Beach so we needed to find another place to stay…

SF part 2 and Nappa Valley

SF part 2 and Nappa Valley

So we did do another trip into San Francisco to wander around, and I got the chance to meet up with a high school buddy who I have not seen in 40 years who was in the city the same weekend I was visiting.  Through Facebook we hooked up and had a great lunch with a promise to get together on our southern return trip later this year.  We also took a day to drive to Napa Valley to see…

San Francisco Part 1

San Francisco Part 1

Our next stop was my older brother’s place in Concord, California.  He has had RV’s in the past and has a driveway leading to a cement pad that goes into his backyard where he used to park his RV.  Our RV wouldn’t fit all the way in the backyard, but 1/2 in and out worked out great, a tight fit, but we have electrical, water and a sewer hook ups.  You cannot beat the free location and being with family makes…

San Diego

San Diego

We are finishing up our week in San Diego.  We stayed at Admiral baker RV park, right near Qualcomm Stadium, just a few miles from downtown and close to everything.  We were able to cross off quite a few items on our want to do list.  First we went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido.  The animals are in a more open setting mixed together on a savannah with some separate exhibits for those that do not…

DALLAS TEXAS

DALLAS TEXAS

After Vicksburg, we headed Southwest to south of Dallas at a Army Corps of Engineer campground on a lake near Ennis TX which is about 45 minutes south of Dallas.   The weather was cloudy and we had a few things to attend to. First up was a visit to the doc to check on Cathy’s hand.  At a Urgent Care center on our way to Texas, we found out she did break a bone in her hand in a…

Some maintenance and coach upgrades

Some maintenance and coach upgrades

While working and waiting until November to finally retire and get on with the full time RV life, I needed to attend to some simple maintenance items.  First up was the generator needed its first oil change.  The Onan 10KW generator is a three cylinder diesel engine and required a oil change after the first 50 hours.  After the weekends at National Harbor I had racked up about 53 hours so I figured I might was well do this simple…

Stuff I use and recommend

Stuff I use and recommend

Some folks have asked about stuff I have been getting for the RV that I sometimes talk about in a post such as the HDMI switch.  I actually bought one that did not work and had to buy another one to finally get one to meet my needs and actually works.  So I have added a new top menu item labeled appropriately “STUFF” where I will try to add links to stuff I have found that meets my needs.  If…
