Moochdocking at a Mansion…
So after a great visit with family, we headed south to see my former employee, Bob and his lake house. Lake house doesn’t come close to describing the 10,000 sq ft mansion right on Lake Norman in North Carolina. He has been asking me to come visit, so I decided the time was right…
Here is the “lake house”….
We were able to tuck the RV into his driveway which is luckily one of the bigger ones on the block.
So, not a bad moochdocking spot…a 10,000 sq foot “lake house”….
A few folks came down from DC and nearby who I used to work with and it was fantastic catching up and playing a few rounds of golf…
The plan was to be here a few days and head up to the Norfolk area to see some friends. The problem was the approaching storm and all the mandatory evacuations happening along the coast heading towards the Norfolk area. So after figuring out we did not want to go and a day or two later be ordered to leave and be stuck in traffic, we decided to stay here and “rough” it in out boondocking spot. I did go get a 50 Amp RV extension cord and was able to plug in the RV to his garage. Now we don’t need to run the generator to keep the RV cool and the batteries charged.
Bob has a list of small projects he would like me to help with and I am more than happy to help him out. It is a big place and needs a little TLC to keep it in top form. So I will gladly help out while we enjoy the location. In the afternoon, it is too hot to work so we just jump in the pool and cool off…not a bad trade off in my opinion.
We head to florida for a month in Mid September before getting back to Houston so Cathy can work a little bit more as we winter in Houston. I will post or 2020 plan in a little while to keep everyone posted.

That house is stunning! Definitely not a bad place to set up shop for a couple days… and smart to avoid all the storm related chaos coming up the coast. Enjoy!
P.S.: Hope the girls don’t get too used to having all that space, they may start demanding their own lake house. 🙂
Definitely roughing it smoothly!
Need to put a few pics of the new fountain you installed.
I’ll send you a few, I think I put some in the post on the lake house.
