Portland, Family and Washington

Portland, Family and Washington

With our repairs complete we were off to Portland to see family, as my older brother Dean and his family that lives in Beaverton, OR.  We had a nice visit and dinner, with Lindsay, his wife, and two of the three kids, Kate and Jennifer, along with Jennifer’s husband, Patrick, and their beautiful daughter Charlotte.

We also got to see our nephew, Ryan who lives north of Portland in Vancouver, WA.  We had a great brunch and Ryan got to see the RV and the girls.  We also gave him some of his and our favorite BBQ sauce from Williamson Brother’s (Atlanta) that we carry with us…

Before we left the area, Dean and Lindsay’s son, Steven, was in Portland for a one day business trip so we got to see him for dinner.

Along with all the family time we got to drive up the Columbia River to see some of the sights along the Columbia River Gorge.

We did a short hike to Bridal Veil Falls, well work the 3/4 mile trek

Bonneville Dam

We did get to fill up in Oregon, as it was much cheaper than CA, our tank is 150 gal so putting in 122 gal was a hit to the pocket book but was about .50c a gal cheaper than the Republic of California…

We crossed over the Columbia River along the coast and into Washington State…

After some time along the west coast of Washington at the beach in a very small town of Ocean Shores, we headed east and crossed over to the Hood Canal,  and up  to the northern side of Washington, on the Strait of Juan de Fuca in the nice town of Sequim.  The RV park was across the street from the Marina.

We did have another issue with Layla’s feet, she tore a toenail so bad it had to be removed by a local vet, but she is taking it all in stride and having a great time at the park by the Marina.

Next up is the town of Port Angeles, the gateway to Olympic National Park, and the Black Ball Ferry that will take us into Canada and land in Victoria, BC.  Stay tuned.

  1. Glad you enjoyed time with your family. I remember meeting some of them. As I recall, Tom and I even hosted Steven for a holiday dinner while he was in Pittsburgh.
    Beautiful pictures from your trip.
Sorry about the emergency vet visit. Glad she is healing nicely.
Take care, travel safely, and know you are loved.
