Torn ACL, upgrades and Christmas

Torn ACL, upgrades and Christmas

Ok, I know I am dink (as in delinquent in my Navy Submarine Qualifications) on an update, but we have been enjoying ourselves and recently had some issues come up that took priority over getting an update done, so now I will recap the past few weeks.

We are staying the month in Port Aransas, Tx on Padre Island at Gulf Waters RV Resort.  It is a ownership resort that owners rent out when they are not using their spot, it is right on the beach with a heated pool and huge sites.  The folks have been wonderful, we have meet folks who own and others who rent for the winter from as far away as Northern Canada. Here are a few pictures to show us roughing it….

At the end of the RV Park is the boardwalk to the beach…

While here, we unfortunately did have an unexpected problem.  While having the girls runnng on the beach, poor Phoebe pulled up holding her rear leg up in the air.  We took her to the local Vet the next day, a radiograph later showed they suspected a torn ACL…

So we made an appointment with a vet surgery place in San Antonio and took her for a consult, and yep torn ACL and surgery was recommended, which we were able to get done the next day…

They cut the leg bone below the knee and reshaped the angle and screwed it back with a plate.  8 week of bed rest with just light walking until the bone heals.

We just have to go easy with her and after a week she is eager to try and use it.  The prognosis is excellent for this type of repair.

I also decided to do some upgrades to the RV storage…Tiffin has some beautiful panels just held on with Velcro that has space defined I could use….first up is the back side of the shower across from the kitchen…

Next was the two panels above the TV…

Lastly was a drawer under the table

I guess this was popular as I was asked to do a few of these in friends RV’s who have the same layout so I ended up doing it for a couple we met here who have a 2014 coach like ours and have one planned for next month.  We have such a great spot with room to work so I figured why not…

We have do some exploring, and I have been golfing a few times with other RV’ers we have met in the park.

We had a gathering on the beach to do a fire and watch the full moon rise over the ocean one night…

We are going to Send Christmas Day with fellow RV’er Eric and Brittney at her parents house in Corpus Christi.  We had a golf cart parade and a gift exchange here at the park yesterday that was really fun.  This is a wonderful RV park with very friendly folks, it is going to be hard to leave on the 1st…
