So, I had to make a trip down to the Newport News area for a meeting so I decided to find a RV park and take the RV instead of staying in a hotel, a win-win since I would be saving the taxpayers (most, if not all of you) some money and I get to stay the weekend and test out the RV some more as we get closer to full time living in it.
I was able to reserve a spot at the Navy Cheatham Annex, at a cost of only $30 a night for full hookups!
Cheatham Annex is a Naval Base, located near Williamsburg, Virginia on the York River approximately 35 miles northwest of Norfolk in the heart of the famous Jamestown–Williamsburg–Yorktown “Historic Triangle.” Although Cheatham Annex was not commissioned until June 1943, the land on which the base is located can claim the unique distinction of having been associated with every conflict involving the United States freedom and independence. The mission of Cheatham Annex includes supplying Atlantic Fleet ships and providing recreational opportunities to military and civilian personnel.
So we got a nice open spot and parked the RV.
So after my meetings, on Friday we decided to go visit Yorktown and visit the new Yorktown Victory Center that just opened this year. Here are some photo’s from our visit.
We drove around Yorktown and took a few more pictures:
Great day in all, the dogs did fine in the motorcoach for the 5 hours we were out and After we got back, I got a few more modifications to the RV done. I added a longer hose to the wet bay hand sprayer, to allow easier cleaning of the dogs (Phoebe was the lucky one to get to try it out), I added a pressure gauge to see water pressure on the pump outlet, added a glove dispenser.
All in all, a great day now time to start a fire, sit outside as it cools down and watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
